Studio 12
Rob McHaffie & Lane Cormick
stress less
Current Gertrude studio artist Rob McHaffie and former studio artist Lane Cormick are presenting their first collaborative exhibition, in the experimental space of Gertrude’s Studio 12. The two artists have taken a break from their respective solo practices in order to encourage something spontaneous and organic, irrespective of
medium and form. Rob and Lane first met through sharing studios in the same building in Flinders Lane. Both artists studied at Brighton Bay Art and Design School and the VCA drawing department, and both attended residencies at Gertrude - all at different times. They grew up on opposite sides of the river, a few years apart, but have followed a path that overlaps at many points. Says McHaffie of the collaboration, “It will probably flop at times, but it will pick itself up and keep moving in whatever direction it feels necessary.” |
