Information
Lily Hibberd is a visual artist who works with painting, photography and installation. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at Monash University, Caulfield in 1993, before undertaking further studies at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne where she graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art (1999) and Master of Fine Art (2001). Recent solo exhibitions include: I want to break free, Karen Woodbury Gallery (2006); Dangerous Liaisons, Linden Centre for Contemporary Arts, St Kilda (2005); Paint Tin Fantasias, The Farm, Brisbane (2004); and Blinded by the Light, exhibited at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Perth; Bus Gallery, Melbourne, and Karen Woodbury Gallery, Melbourne (2003-04). She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions both locally and abroad including: The last thing I remember..., Switchback Gallery, Monash University Gippsland 2005; You're So Vain Karen Woodbury Gallery, Melbourne 2005;Imaging the Apple, RMIT Projectspace (2004); Art + Film, Centre for Contemporary Photography, Fitzroy (2003); Murdoch Traveling Fellowship, Victorian College of the Arts Gallery, Melbourne (2003); Mnemotech, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Perth (2002); Towards Colour, McClelland Gallery, Victoria (2002); Look See: five contemporary painters, Monash University Gallery, Clayton (2001). Her grants and awards include an Australia Council for the Arts, Arts Development Grant (2003), National Winner of the UBS Art Award (2000), and The National Gallery Women's Association Postgraduate Award (1999). As founding editor of un Magazine, she is actively involved in the publication of arts writing and is a frequent contributor to various visual art forums, including the co-editing (with Natasha Bullock) issue 76 of Photofile in 2005. Lily is represented by Karen Woodbury Gallery, Melbourne. |
