Information

Emily Ferretti was born in 1982 in Melbourne where she currently lives and works. She completed a Diploma in Visual arts from RMIT in 2002 and Bachelor of Fine arts with Honours at VCA in 2006. Since then she has been consistently showing in artist run and commercial spaces, has undertaken residencies, been recipient of a grant, and has been short listed into many prizes.

Ferretti's paintings investigate the art of the everyday by rendering domestic objects and scenes with equal measure of fantasy and documentary. On stark backgrounds, paint is applied subtly and with a delicate palette, giving the work a sense of dissolve and space. This effect heightens the daydream-like ambiguity between the reality of the everyday and the whimsical flights of imagination.

Ferretti is currently represented by Sophie Gannon Gallery, Melbourne
