Culture of Fear- Trust Me
The smiley face icon disintegrates before our eyes, instantly descending into a theatre of perversity.
My recent images address our fears and insecurities in the current atmosphere of distrust. I employ a strategy that is at once overt and subversive, operating in ways that may appear rather trivial; but the concerns I have identified are insidious and deep seated. They strike the most intimate fibers of our being and reverberate throughout our most public experiences. Thus our private and our public selves are often vulnerable, exposed and open to manipulation; we languish in a culture of fear. We want so very much to trust someone or something but we are often disappointed.
