SHIRALEE SAUL

Shiralee Saul has been a (more or less independent) curator since 1984. Past curatorial credits include 'Fehl am Platz' (a photography exhibition that toured Germany 1985), St Kilda Multimedia Extravaganza 1986-9, 'FACT' (nationally touring 'exhibition in a computer' 1991), 'Vitae' 1994, 'Read My Lips' 1995, 'Driven to Distraction' (national/international tour of experimental film and video programs 1994), Robotica (exhibition and screening program MIFF 1996), 'Domestic Disturbances' (national tour of multimedia by women 1997), 'Short, Sharp and VERY Current' (screening program and interactive exhibition toured nationally and internationally 1997), 'Altered States' (multimedia exhibition for Interact curated with Helen Stuckey 1998), 'Relative' (international touring screening program, 1998), 'PreFab' (online architecture exhibition curated with Helen Stuckey 1999). Shiralee most recently co-curated 'House of Tomorrow' currently touring Australia, and 'Strange Attractors' animation showcase for ABC new media. 

Shiralee was a Founding Director of New Media Network, Australia's first (and only) dedicated digital media gallery 1994-6, and Creative Director of Experimenta Media Arts 1996-8. She was a founding member of The Basement Project. She edited 'An Installation Publication', with James Harley 1989-94, MESH film/video/ multimedia/art journal 1996-8 and SPAM Online until 2000. In addition she has lectured in digital media theory and practice since 1996 in post-graduate, undergraduate and TAFE courses. From 1999-- 2002 she created and produced educational online resources through Orbis Media, and has since undertaken a number of contracts with ABC Online and, more recently, with SBS New Media. Shiralee has also provided a range of consultancy services to government and community-based arts organizations since the early '90s: since 2002 she has been FFC's games industry consultant. Shiralee has served as a project assessor for AFC and funding officer for Film Victoria. She is currently a member of Film Victoria's DMF Evaluation and Advisory Committee.
